ONAM SPECIAL

India truly is a land of multiculture and with it comes multicusine each state brings its own variety and speciality of food, with its own modification and varied and unmatchable taste it leaves u amazed wanting for more.If multicusine is a gift having friends from around the world is an ultimate bliss. few days back i had an opptunity to enjoy onam special meal as one of my friend who is a keralite invited me for lunch . foodie as i am i readily sat to taste my delicious meal , the food was served the traditional way ofcourse in banana leaf . its said here in south india that if u dont eat in banana leaf with your hands you can never enjoy the true taste of the food.

immdiately she served me food , there was quite a variety of food , there was inji curry ( ginger chutney, pachhadhi(curd and onion tempered with curry leaves and mustard seeds) cabbage-carrot thoran ( vegetable) carrot thoran, daal, papad, pickle and the most importantly Aviyal( mixed vegetable, mildly spiced) aviyal is onam special meal is incomplete without it, its a combination of vegetables which r minmally seasoned and pressure cooked, the taste is so subtle and delicious you cant help taking second serving , all the side dishes are served with rice and actually you r suppose to divide your rice into parts and then eat it with each side dishes but i enjoyed the combination of all , each dish had very heavy influence of curry leaves, mustard seeds and of course coconut which i quite liked, i really enjoyed the food but that was not all to end my meal she seerved me pysam( traditional south indian kheer) which was delicious and was a great way to end my scrumptious meal , i was so full that had to take a nap at her place.

finally i thanked her for the wonderful meal and now penning down my delicilous experience.. happy onam.
